Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide review of time words (ago, before, by, the time, over the last, since, then) in the context of unusual achievemnts
Procedure (42-61 minutes)
The Ss are already familiar with the context so I will just ask some CCQs to make them remember. CCQs: do you remember what you were talking about in ….’s class yesterday?- unusual achievements. Do you remember some of the achievements mentioned there?- managing director of yahoo!, family of young university graduates, juggling records, circling the globe by helicopter, Halle Berry. Then I will show them the pictures in listening part and ask them to guess what they are doing and what is their achievement. After that they will have a minute to read questions of Ex.1 Pg.54. I will put Ss in pairs then play the recording part by part and ask them to check their answers together.
Put Ss in pairs and ask them to do the Ex.2a Pg.54 then Ex.2b.
We work on Analysis Pg.54. It is a GD and Ss are to find the answers themselves so I will just help them and correct them if it is needed. After that, we work on examples and I will use timelines to clarify the perfect tenses for them while asking CCQs to make sure they understand every part of the lesson.
I will ask students to take a look at pictures in Pg.55 and ask if they know them and ask about their achievements. Then I will ask them to do the practice 1 Pg.55 in pairs.
I ask Ss to work individually by doing practice 2 Pg.55. Monitor and help if needed.
Ask Ss to do practice 3 Pg.55 in pairs. Then read the most interesting one to the class
