To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of places and jobs
Procedure (34-50 minutes)
T will write the word PLACE on the board, and will give use the "classroom" as an example to describe the word.
T will show the pictures of locations (school, hospital, cafe, office, hotel, shop) and ask what is it?. Practice pronunciation of the words. (1-2 minutes) Material photosoftheword_gw1 will be used. Elicit the words with a group work (GW1) (or PW)by matching the words and photos. (5-7 minutes)
Ss will listen to people speaking about their jobs, workplaces and cities where they work. Recording 36.36 will be played in the classroom. They will take notes during the listening.
GW-2 Ss will work in groups of 3&4 (depending on how many Ss will attend to the class) to fill the gaps in the handouts in 5 minutes. It is a contest, group who finish early and correctly will get a prize. 1 or 2 groups will be picked up to talk about what they have done.
Words "retired" and "housewife" will be introduced. Materials photosoftheword_gw3 will be used Ss will make sentences about themselves. I'm a housewife. I work at home. I'm retired. I don't work. I work at home.
This will be the last session in this class. Ss will be in two groups and each group will nominate one person. The nominated student will choose a job or a workplace from GW1&2 words The group will try to estimate it by asking questions.
Today we learned "places of work"... and show them pictures again just to repeat.
