Procedure (38-59 minutes)
T will write "Gender Gaps on the Brain" on the WB and ask Ss to get into pairs, preferably male/female. T will have Ss do ex.1 on page 40. T will write verbs on the WB that the Ss discussed. Ss will write their answers on WB. WC will discuss the results. -Communicating with people -Math -Languages -Parking a car -Map-reading -Cooking
T will give Ss the HO and Ss will quickly read the text. With their partner, Ss will answer the questions in Ex 2 on p.40. Check answers as a whole class.
Ss will work individually. T will tell them to read the text again and underline the sections that give information. Then, Ss will work with their partner to check the answers.
Put Ss into pairs. Explain that guessing meaning from context is an important skill. With their partners, Ss will guess the meaning of the given words and phrases from the text, Ex. 4, p.40
In small groups (3 or 4), Ss will discuss the questions in ex.5 p.40. Make sure they explain their opinions and ask each other questions. Monitor and help if necessary.
Ss will work in pairs and match the adjectives with the definitions on p. 41 Ex. 1. Elicit or give examples sentences if necessary.
If there is extra time, Ss will work in pairs to complete the second exercise on the HO
