To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of vocabulary related to the internet.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification, review and practice of definite and indefinite articles in the context of daily conversation, especially focus on non use of articles when generalizing.
Procedure (77-107 minutes)
Ask ss if they use the internet. YES Which websites/ apps do you use the most? Elicit and note on flip. How much time do they spend on the internet? Elicit What do you use the internet for? Other than chatting with your friends. Studying? Work ?
Elicit meanings of the words in 1b. Attachment, download, google, log in, online, search for, skype, social network, upload , wifi. Explain with examples. Introduce exercise 1b. Ask ss to complete individually. Time for task 5-7 minutes. Listen to the answers. Drill and focus on the stressed syllables.
Introduce speaking task: Demonstrate often, sometimes, hardly ever and never to the ss. I use an upward pointing arrow and mark the levels as never, hardly ever etc. Pick few phrases FROM PG 89, UNDER 2A and peg them on the graph. Demonstrate a conversation with a strong ss. Highlight the question I ask at the end. HOW ABOUT YOU?
Ask the same ss to have this conversation with another ss. Pair ss. Ask them to speak to each other using these phrases. Monitor and note errors for correction. Feedback and correction. Ask ss to read the phrases again and complete 2b. Check and discuss as an open group.
Ask ss to complete exercise 11C on pg 149. Demonstrate the 1st one. If the ss find it difficult, pair them. Otherwise ask them to do this individually. Time for task- 7 minutes. Check answers. Refer to rules on pg 148. Highlight the general rules. Elicit examples as an open group for each rule and write on the flipchart. Now re look at exercise 11C and elicit answers from the class. Refer to the displayed rules whenever necessary. Ask ss to complete ex 1b either in class ( if time permits) or as HW.
Use 3c as a pairwork exercise . Monitor and note errors to provide feedback later. Instruct ss to ask their partner questions about the same topic and listen to their responses. Feedback and corrections.
