Description

in this lesson students are going to listen about the intelligent animals through an audio about intelligent animal. the lesson starts with a discussion about animals. this is followed by gist listening and details listening where students listen and put animals in order and listen to get some information about the intelligent animals in the audio. finally, a freer practice via a discussion-questions speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about animals in the context of anitellegant animals

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion questions in the context of anitellegant animals

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shows ss a picture about animals - asks ss to discuss the 3 lead-in questions in the book in pairs with a communicative goal, in 3 mins. - T monitors well and gives ss prompts to keep on talking. -a whole class feedback through the communicative goal

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T Prepares students for the listening task the teacher will pre-teach the following vocab (pet / wild / intelligent / whale) through a matching activity The teacher will have choral drilling for the mis-pronouncing words

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-9 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students will listen for gist by doing ex 2a T asks ss to listen to a radio program about intelligent animals and to put the animals mentioned in order [ex1]. Instructions: - T says " we are listening to a radio program talking about intelligent animals, I want you to put animals you hear in order" -T chests and points at the text and the questions and asks ss to listen and answer. Modeling -T models by doing one with ss. Feedback - T asks ss to check their answers in pairs. -T displays the answer keys - T starts the content feedback by asking about the dog mentioned in the audio, saying " why whales were no.1?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will listen for details by doing ex 2b - The teacher will ask the students to listen to the audio and write which things can each animal do? teacher gives instructions t chests and points at the activity and ask ss to listen and answer t models by doing one with the ss monitoring - The teacher will ask the students if they want to listen again, - The teacher will put students in groups/pairs to check their answers. - The teacher will be monitoring in case students need help. - The teacher will have an open feedback to check the students' answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher will ask the students to start to discuss some discussion questions / setting a communicative goal - The teacher will put students in groups/ pairs to share their ideas with each other. - The teacher will put the students in different groups to share their ideas - The teacher will be monitoring the students - The teacher will have open class feedback so the students can share their answers with the whole class.
