To provide review, practice and clarification of future tenses in the context of will, be going to, present continuous and might.

To provide specific information listening practice using a text about future tenses in the context of be going to, will, might, present continuous
Procedure (31-45 minutes)
-Write "What are your plans for the weekend?" on the board. Get Ss to be pairs. They will think for a minute and discuss in pairs.
-Get students to read the first conversation together. (choral) A: Are you going to Joel's party? B: I might stay at home. I am very tired. -Elicit the rule together for 'might' -Ss continue in pairs to complete the other rules.
-Get Ss to skim the text in part 2A and find the other examples of the structures in pairs and show each other. -Monitor the Ss. -Nominate a student from each pair and get them to come to the board and identify structures on smartboard.
-Present the future tenses on smartboard.
-Do the exercises on page 133. Do the first one as an example. -Then Ss work in groups of 3 s. -When they finish, each student will move to the next chair and discuss the answers in the new group. -Give Ss answer key.
-In part 5A, play recording while Ss complete the sentences. -Pause between sentences. -Ss check the answers in pairs. If necessary, play recording again.
-Play recording again for pronunciation. -Inform Ss that in fast speech 'going to' can be pronounced 'gonna' but not to be used in more formal situations.
-Get Ss to be in groups of 3s. -Then have them drill the sentences in part 6. -Give feedback.
-Get Ss to write sentences for 7a. -Monitor and provide support. -Give feedback.
-Have Ss be in 2 groups. -Then get them to play the game 'Stepping Stones' in Speakout Intermediate Active teach.
