Main Aims
-

Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide practice in listening, writing and speaking (by working in groups) using multiple skills and systems in order to complete the task.
Procedure (36-46 minutes)
T puts pictures of where she used to live in the countryside on the w/b Asks: Do you think this is a nice place, why? Eliciting words green, organised, natural, clean, well-preserved.. then points at city images and highlights the contrast and the difference between them. polluted, foggy, dirty.. To point at global environmental issues, T uses a one-min BBC video clip summarising the Climate Change Summit in Paris. BEFORE starting, sets the task "LET's LOOK at a video about a meeting, and think what its about?" Is it important? What's the aim, purpose of it?
DICTOGLOSS stage T sets the activity, CLEAR GROUPING.Some wise ppl appreciated the importance of nature in the old times. I will read the beginning of an old saying, I will read it once, and once only!! I want you to only (JUST) listen but make a mental note of it and as soon as I finish, write down whatever you can remember.. Are you ready?? Pens down, ears open .. T reads the proverb. Ss write, then compare/discuss in groups. FEEDBACK/ ERROR Correction. (Possible grammar question here about the word order. is it a question?)
Ss brainstorm different endings (at least 2) we realise what? we realise.. (can we add something to connect (the conjunction 'that') T will write the ending on the w/b. WC FEEDBACK Which one's the best ending/which one do you prefer?
ITI Green Party Manifesto! Ss work in groups to prepare a manifesto for the school's Green Party, discussing and then presenting their proposals for an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Provide feedback and specific error correction on the spot about manifestos, get students to repeat the re-occurinng mistakes. Close the activity.
