Procedure (32-43 minutes)
I will present 3 picturs of people and ask the students to make guesses about their life. "Who are they?" Gesturing "I don't know" "Where do you think they live?" Give Ss 1 min to discuss in pairs and share their thoughts for each picture.
Ss will be given a typed HO of the 3 texts in the Straightforward beginners book p 42 to read it individually. "2 mins" Gesturing. This will be followed by asking them to tell the names of the people in the pictures on the WB. "Who's Keith Wright?" And gesturing to get the name of the rest. Ss will come to the board to stick the names on the WB .
Using the projector we will have the text they read on the board with the verbs being colored green and red. Trying to elicit the part of speech (verb). Then asking them "what's the difference between them?" Once I have the correct answer, using the projector I will show them another picture of the same texts with (he, she, it and 's') being colored green and all the verbs red. Trying to get as much as I can from the students.
"Do we add 's' to the noun?" "After he,she,it do we add 's' to the verb?" "After they, you, we, I do we add 's' to the verb" I will project 5 pairs of sentences and ask students to tell me the right one.
Using 3 boxes with words of each text which refer to the texts. The student will be divided into 3 groups and the WB will be divided into 3 parts. The first 3 students will take a piece of paper from their team box and make a simpke present sentence from it Ex: "London" student will wright "he/she lives in London"/"they live in London" depends on the picture on the board. When they finish they will have time for self-correction with their team. For the correct sentence Ss will be given a typed cut-up of the same sentence to stick it on the WB to organise it.
Having had the cut-ups on the WB students will be asked to write the question of the sentences. "In your group write the question of you sentence"
"In pairs, ask your partner to tell you about his best friend using the dialogue on the WB" I will take the cut-ups off the board one by one
(If we have time to spare) Write about your friend using the things you have taken today (present simple).
