Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks

T "How many friends do you have?" Ss "not a lot - a few friends"T "I don't have a lot of friends, but I have two friends I want you to meet" T puts a picture of a fit man on the white board and says to the Ss "this is my friend John. In your group, think about John and what he does in his free time. Tell me about (John's) life. what does he do?" Ss "he plays football - he runs a lot - he goes to the gym" T writes the sentences on the W/B. Then, he puts another picture of an unfit man next to the previous one. T "This is my other friend Bill. Think about what Bill does. what does Bill do in his free time?" Ss "he watches TV. He sleeps a lot. He stays at home" T writes the sentences on the W/B. T "which one is healthier, John or Bill? Why? Which one is more active? Why?

Useful Language (10-13 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T " I'll give you these handouts, they are folded. Will you open them?" T assigns pairs then gives instructions on how do the task. T "look at your partner. don't talk to him or her. Guess what your partner does or doesn't do. Complete the sentences." T asks two Ss to demo the activity and uses some ICQs. T "are you talking to your partner? - No Are you both writing? - Yes" Ss start writing, the T monitors then stops the activity. T asks some pairs to share their guesses with the rest of the class. T elicits the question form of the sentence "how do we make a question with this sentence?" Ss "do you play tennis?" T writes the form on the board and marks (Do you) in red. "make questions with these sentences. Are you working alone or in a group? - In a group. Are you making questions with (you)? - Yes" T demos the exercise on the W/B, Ss work in groups, T monitors, then stops the activity. T gives FB on the task through peer-check.

Productive Task(s) (8-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T "Work in pairs, ask all the questions you wrote to your partner. And your partner answers these questions with (Yes, I do - Yes, sometimes - No, I don't) Then, your partner asks you all the questions and you answer. Put a (true) mark if his/her answer matches your guess." T writes (Very active - Quite active - Not very active) on the board and asks Ss "is your partner very active, quite active or not very active" T tries to elicit some additional forms from the students like "He is active, because he plays tennis - She is not very active because she doesn't go running."

Free practice (6-6 minutes) • To provide extra practice of the TL using free practice

T "Stand up. Go around the classroom and tell your friends about your partner without saying his/her name. He plays tennis. He goes swimming....., then let them guess who your partner is" T monitors for accurate use of TL and writes down some incorrect sentences for the delayed FB.

Back-up Activity (3-5 minutes) • To be prepared if students finish early and there's still time to be filled.

T gives Ss some cutouts with verbs on them. Ss mingle, ask each other questions using the verbs and answer them as a free activity.
