  • Students will be able to invite others to join them and express their feelings on that invitation.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Vocabulary: play football, read a book, sing a song, write a story
  • Grammar: Let's .... Great idea!| No, thank you.

Procedure

Warm up Video (2-4 minutes) • To get students focused and ready to learn

PLay a video to dance to and set the mood for the class

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Add new vocabulary phrases. Pay special attention to write a story and read a book. The pronunciation is quite difficult. Play side to side with the structure Let's

Highlighting (4-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Introduce Great idea and No, thank you. This is very hard for students. Play an arm matching game they have to do and repeat after the teacher. The students need to get the answers right 5 times in a row without anyone making a mistake with answers.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Play Blurry picture. Students will guess what picture the little teacher is hiding, this is on the screen not a flashcard. The students at the front will say great idea if the student guesses right or no, thank you if the student guesses wrong.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Play Telepathy or Choose yoour prize. Students choose an action. The teacher triggers a prompt for great idea or no, thank you answers and the whole class answers in chorus.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Role Play Students are give a "situation" picture and they will need to talk to each other about the action vocabulary on the board game placemat. For example the middle of the board game placemat is a rainy day. The first player lands on fly a kite. The first student makes the sentence Let's fly a kite. The second player will answer with No, thank you because you don't fly a kite in the rain.
