Materials
Main Aims
-
To give Ss practice in speaking for fluency and expressing doubts.
Subsidiary Aims
-
TO raise Ss awareness of and give practice in functional words and phrases for expressing doubts- I don't really think, I find hard to believe etc. To give Ss practice in listening for specific information and detail.
Procedure (35-51 minutes)
T will show 2 pictures related to reading to get Ss engaged to the topic. T will ask Ss to see the pictures and what they guess about these places. And Ss will be asked to use previous grammar "it is said that"etc. The Ss will work in pairs.
To pre-teach the new lexis, I will use matching. This activity help me to save more time for my main approach. After finishing the matching I will ask students to compare their answers in pairs. The correct answers will be in the WB.
I will hand HO1 to students. There are two questions that Ss are supposed to answer. 1. What positive effects do they suggest these places can have on visitors? 2. What do you think of these claims? Then I will give short FB and get Ss ready for listening parts. Using grammar will be appreciated.
Ss should listen to two conversations. First activity is to identify speakers' attitudes towards the places they mention. FB must be so quick.
Ss listen to recording for the second time and tick the arguments that speakers express. (Ex.2)
Ss are supposed to use words in the box and fill in the blanks. This way they practice meaning and form and also usage of the expressions. I will write the correct answers on the board.
I will prepare page 45 of the book for Ss. Ss work on small groups of three. Each S chooses his/her city and explain their ideas and their partners should try to express doubts. I will monitor closely but I won't interfere unless communication breaks down.
