Procedure (50-60 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Discussion: “What’s one thing you’ve done that makes you proud?”
While-Reading/Listening #1 (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
Activity: Gap-Fill Exercise Example: “I have treated __ more cats than dogs.” “She has been a vet for __ longer than I have.” Activity: Mark the sentences using present perfect for comparisons.
While-Reading/Listening #2 (18-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
Audio Clip: A conversation between two veterinarians discussing their careers. Comprehension Questions: “What have the vets achieved?” “How do their experiences compare?” .
Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Pair Work: Students compare their own experiences
Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
