Main Aims

  • Students will be able to fluently talk about colors with plural articles of clothing.

Procedure

Warm up Video (2-4 minutes) • To get students focused and ready to learn

A dance video will play for the students to dance to while teacher sets up

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Review the previous lesson What colour is her dress? It's green. What colour is his shirt? It's blue. Play a spinner game The spinner will have the same article in various colours and the students need to look on the board to find the student wearing that colour item, then slap underneath and make the sentence.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

LInk the previous structure to the new one What colour is her dress? It's green. What colour are her shoes? They are yellow. What colour is his shirt? It's red. What colour are his trousers? They are blue.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Play Mystery picture. Students will see a person but there will be a shape over the object in question that students can only see a small bit of. The first to make the sentence is the winner. Winner takes 2 stars and loosers each get one star.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Play fill in the blank. A person card will appear on the screen and three students will race to complete the sentence with word cards.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Play the Salad game Students are given cards with clothing pictures in various colours. These are now the colour of the student's clothes for the game. Each student will have a worksheet with 4 clothing articles on it. They must listen the it and try to swap seats before it steals a a seat.
