Procedure (34-43 minutes)
The teacher will show a series of picture about different human history periods and asks students if they are in correct order. Students correct the order and teacher asks their opinion about each period. T-S sample interaction: Teacher: I think life in stone age was easier. am I right? S: I think....
The teacher will divide students into groups of four (two A and two B). The teacher will give each group incomplete sets of phrases and ask students to match them together. After students are done with this task the teacher will give the students the answer key. The teacher asks students to categorize the expressions according to meaning. The categorization will be done on the board by sticking each expression under the relevant heading. After checking the answers as WC the teacher drills a few of the phrases. Interaction Sample|: match each of the expressions from column A to an expression from column B
The teacher first tries to elicit a couple of ways to show agreement/disagreement. The teacher will divide the students in groups of four again The teacher will then ask students in groups to match the set of relevant phrases to the scale. (with 1 being strongly disagree and 5 strongly agree). The teacher will check the answers get FB as WC and drill a few of these phrases.
The teacher will give students the topics in exercise 1. The students will decide how much they agree with each statement individually. Then the teacher asks students to think of examples to support their ideas. Finally the teacher asks students to think about questions that they could ask their partners in discussion. (Elicit a few of these to the board).
The teacher asks students to rearrange the seat and make to rows facing each other. Group A will sit in the first row. Group B will sit in the second row. they begin talking to each other and every two minutes the teacher asks group B to move around so that they can talk to another student.
