Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Board Activity: Write: “What have you achieved in your career so far?” Students discuss in pairs and share responses. Introduce present perfect structure with examples: “I have treated many dogs with similar symptoms.” “She has worked at this clinic for five years.”

Exposure (18-20 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Flashcard Challenge: Teacher shows flashcards with starters like: “I have never… / I have always…” Students complete the sentences using the present perfect. Matching Activity: Students match prompts to the correct responses. Example: Prompt: “How long have you worked with horses?” Response: “I have worked with horses for three years.”

Useful Language (18-20 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Pair Work: Students ask each other about their professional experiences, using: “Have you ever…?” “How long have you…?” Example Prompts: “Have you ever treated a rare animal?” “How long have you worked with large animals?”
