To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussing personal information in the context of saying hello and getting to know each other.

To provide clarification and practice of possessive adjectives in the context of saying your name.
Procedure (53-66 minutes)
Ss stand in a circle. T holds a ball and tosses it to a S and says "I'm Wasseem" T asks the S to return the ball to the T. T repeats with another S. T gestures to a S to do the same. Ss keep throwing the ball to each other until they know each other's names.
Ss each write their names on name cards and place them on their desks.
T introduces himself to a S. T prompts the S to do the same. T writes "I'm Fadma / and I'm Wasseem, nice to meet you / nice to meet you too" T focuses on the illustration and the names. "Where are they?" "Who are they?" Ss listen to the conversation. Focus on "I'm sorry, what's your name again?" "too" Ss practice the conversation in pairs. Encourage Ss to Look up and Speak. Choose a pair to practice. Ss underline the names and replace them with their names. Ss practice with their own names.
Focus attention on the pictures "Do you know who this is?" Focus attention on the names. Make the distinction between male/female. Focus attention on the names. SS listen and repeat. Write "Male Female Both" on the board. Write a female Turkish name "Beyza"/ a male Turkish name "Burak"/ a name used for both "Bilge, Deniz, Toprak". Ask Ss to write them on the write place on the board. Write Maxwell on the board "Is it male or female? Male". Max for friends. Show a photo of Max my friend.

Focus attention on the grammar. Ss Listen and repeat. Focus attention on the picutres and the names. Ss fill in the blanks for A. Ss compare in pairs. Ss do B the same. Ss practice in npairs.
Ss listen to the first part of the recording. Ss listen again and repeat. Go around the class quickly and make sure Ss can read the alphabet well. Focus on the conversation and play the recording. Ss listen silently and then listen and repeat. Cross out the names and prompt Ss to do the same. Model the task with a strong S and prompt Ss to make a list of their classmates.
