Main Aims

  • Students are able to make short sentences about furniture in the rooms of their house.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Grammar: It's in the bedroom.
  • Review words: bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, shower, bed, cupboard, TV, sofa, table, lamp, tub

Procedure

Warm up Video (2-4 minutes) • To focus students before learning.

A dance video will be played that students can dance along with to burn energy and settle nerves before learning.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Review from the previous lesson: The bed is in the bedroom. Short game: side to side. Add new structure: It's in the bedroom. Give students a chance to practice

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Play the cat video.in the recording there is a naughty cat who runs around the house while his family tries to find him. Watch the video and pause at intervals to allow students to guess where the cat is.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Play spinner game The winning student will spin the unfair wheel. This wheel gives +1 star to one of the teams.it could be they give astarto another team.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Play sentence relay. Point word cards not only meat make up the sentence but also cards for the furniture. This will make students remember that it's is a quicker way to make the sentence. Students will 1 by 1 try to build the structure with the word cards.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Grab the chicken Three students will play at a time. When the teacher finishes the question the students grab for the chicken. The first to grab it makes the structure for their house. Most objects only have one room to be placed in so their shouldn't be any confusiā€¦
