Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask Ss to think about the latest experiences they have had. 1. What did you do last year?

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask Ss to read a text and tell me what it is about.

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask students to underline the target language (present perfect) in the text.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

MEANING I will ask students some CCQs to identify meaning. I have been to Canada twice. CCQs: When is the action happening? In the past. Do I know exactly when the action happened? No. FORM I will ask my students to idnetify the components of the structure. Subject + __________ + ____________ + object. PRONUNCIATION Sentence stress. I will read the sentences out loud and ask Ss to identify which words I am stressing. I will ask students to drill.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask students to order the sentences. Or: I will ask students to complete the sentences with the correct form. I will ask students to compare answers and provide feedback. 4-6 sentences are recommended.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Conversation oriented activities I will ask Ss to answer the following questions: Have you ever made a huge mistake in life? I will monitor for mistakes. I will write some sentences that need to be corrected by the students.
