In this lesson Ss will learn new Grammar Comparatives through "cities" context .

Abc S book/ solutions

  • To provide accuracy in the context of cities while using new grammar

Procedure

Lead-in( Warmer ) (6-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T starts the class with a brief and warm greeting and asks if Ss are planning for the nowruz holiday or not . Then shows the pics of 2 cities in USA on power point ,asks : what do you know about NY or LA? then explains the instructions of part 1 in the book, pairs and give Ss time to speak . (feedback)

Exposure (6-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T asks Ss to open their books , points and explains the second part (what is internet forum) , give Ss some time to read the text . Then asks them : what do you think ,which city should Cassie go? Who thinks Cassie should go to New York? Who thinks she should go to Los Angeles?

Highlighting (5-8 minutes) • To draw students attention to the target language

T highlights some sentences through the text which has used the target grammar. (power point) T explains some parts are different and new and asks if they have noticed .

Clarification (15-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning , form and pronunciation of the target language

T explains a bit about adjectives to review and then shows the learn box and reads it out loud with the examples. Then T starts giving examples and explains the grammar more, writes down the form on the bored . Then asks Ss to answer the part below the box. icq/ccq

Controlled Practice (6-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare Ss for more meaningful practice

T asks Ss to do part 4 and 5 with partner and then checks.

Semi-controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare Ss for free practice

T asks Ss to do part 6/7 with partner and then checks. Then answer part 8 in groups of 3

Free Practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide Ss with free practice of the target language
