To provide gist listening practice using a text about relax in the context of relaxation and daily routine
Procedure (36-50 minutes)
say good morning. ask Ss "did you relax yesterday, how?" listen to 2/3 of them tell them we will talk about relaxation, daily routine and personal habits today.
Tell Ss they are going to listen to an interview with Barbara. Tell them they will listen and say " did she talk about her day yesterday or she talked about her daily routine?" play the interview Elicit answers
show Ss the material. tell them they are going to read a sentence that Barbara said in the interview. tell them to think about the underline words and answer them with a partner. tell them you have 3 minutes. after they finish get them to peer check with other pairs. elicit answers and make sure they understand.
show Ss the material. tell them to work with their partners. tell them they are going to answer the first question. give them a minute to discus. elicit answers
tell Ss they are going to do the second task in the HO. tell them to work in pairs. tell them they have 2 minutes after they finish, tell them to peer check with other pairs. give them answer keys. give then the language reference HO
show students the material tell them they are going to work individually. tell them how to do the task. tell them they have 3 minutes. give them the HOs get them to start monitor and help get them to peer check elicit some answers
show students the material tell them they are going to guess are the sentences true for their partners tell them to use the correct adverb to make them true for their partners. tell them they have 2 minutes after they finish, tell them to go and ask their partners and make sure.
if time, I'll skip this. show Ss the material tell them they will ask different people about their habits to find someone similar to them. tell them they have 3 minutes elicit some answers
