Main Aims

To provide review and practice of simple past of be (affirmative, negative and question) in the context of looking back.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide freer speaking practice of TL in the context of looking back.
Procedure (38-50 minutes)
T will show visuals of some children in the first day of school. T will ask sts "What do you see in this picture?" and elicit "the first day of school" T will also ask "Was she/he happy or nervous or scared?" and elicit the answers. T will clarify nervous and scared. She will highlight the TL at this stage.
Form: Aff: He was nervous. Neg: He wasn't nervous. (highlight wasn't instead of was not.) Q: Was he nervous? Yes, he was / No, he wasn't. (highlight short answer instead of he was nervous.) Meaning: Draw a time line if necessary. CQs: Is he nervous now? NO CQs: Was it in the past? YES Pronunciation: was and were in weak forms in Affirmative and Negative; but they are stressed in short negative answers.
