Procedure (39-51 minutes)
- Ask the Ss the following question: Do you watch comedy programs? - take feedback from the Ss and elicit the word always - Ask a Ss to come to the w/b and write his sentence - Ask the Ss the following question: Do you watch the news? - Take feedback from the Ss and elicit the word never - Ask a student to come to the board and write it onto the w/b
- write the rest of the adverbs of frequency onto the w/b - show slide 1 onto the w/b along with HO1 (the transcript of listening exercise 1) and ask them if they still remember the audio track - Ask Ss to look at the transcript and underline sentences with the adverbs of frequency - demonstrate the activity for the first sentence - set time limit 3 minutes and peer check 1 minute - ask Ss to come to the board and write the sentences onto the board
- Show slide 2 onto the w/b also with HO2 - explain the instruction in HO2 - set time limit 4 minutes - after Ss have finished let them peer check - have feedback as whole class and deal with any problem - do the pronunciation part model and drill and write the stress onto the w/b
This activity depends on the number of Ss in case of 10 Ss or less I will do the following activity: - Show slide 4 onto the w/b and tell Ss we have a matching exercise - show the cutups to the Ss and tell them they will have to find their partner and put their answers on the walls around the class - Tell the Ss to start the activity, monitor and help where needed - after Ss have found their partners and stuck the cutups on the wall tell them to check other answers see if they are true - Have a w/c feedback if the number is above 10 the activity will be as follows: - show slide 4 onto the w/b with HO3 - tell Ss we have a matching exercise - give the HO to the Ss and set time limit 3 minutes - peer check - have a w/c feedback
- Show slide 5 onto the w/b with HO4 - explain the activity for the students and demonstrate it with one student - Give The HO to the Ss and set time limit 3 minutes - enable Ss to peer check tell them to tell their partners about their sentences - have a w/c class feedback
- put Ss in groups of 3s or 4s according to their numbers - Show slide 6 onto the w/b - explain to the Ss that they will make questions in their groups about the points in the box - demonstrate the activity for the first point - set time limit 3 minutes, monitor and help where needed - after Ss have finished tell them to ask the questions to their groups and write their answers - have a w/c feedback - correct and reformulate if time allows
