Description

In this lesson students review greeting expressions, occupation vocabularies, singular and plural nouns and plural statements through greeting each other and asking questions of the slides they are provided with. they will then learn the grammar of how to make yes/no questions and short answers. they will then given 3 controlled practice. the grammar lesson is provided with 20 questions game. after having a conversation model and pair work they will then go through learning the alphabets . They learn what a proper name and a common name are. they will have 2 controlled practice on page 9. they go for pronunciation exercise and they will be shown some pages of dictionaries to find the number of syllables of some words. They will then be given a conversation model and a pair work. they will have 2 listening comprehension exercises and a pair work after it. they will go through choosing a person as themselves and have a pair work. 2 writing exercises follow it. and after all they will have a review of the unit on page 11 in which they should make sentences, questions and answers and conversations.

Procedure

Review • To recycle what students have learnt last session

enter the class 'Hello, How are you? how's it going? So-so, thanks. I'm a little bit tired' ask some students ' What's your name? how's everything [a name] and how are you?' 'Ok, now I show you some occupations and you say them ok? every person that I say ' show the pictures from first to the last to recycle singular and plural statements and their negative forms. try to ask some yes/no questions slowly to have them exposed to the new grammar lesson they're going through. go to some students and say what do you do? they answers: 'I'm [].' this way they recycle what they learned before

Exposure, highlighting and clarification • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation, draw students' attention to the target language and clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

go to some other students and ask 'what do you do?' and him/her ' Are you ....?' record 'Are you ....? yes she is/ No she's not' on the board . drill it. go to some other students and ask 'what do you do?' and ask others 'Is (s)he ....' record 'Is (s)he ....? yes she is/ No she's not' on the board . drill it. show further pictures to them and ask several times 'Are they...? ' with right and wrong occupations. record on the board 'Are they...? yes they are/ No they aren't ' drill it. make the aware of not using short form answer in the affirmative form.

Semi-Controlled Practice (a 20 questions game) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

clean the board except "Is he...? Yes he is/ No he's not" drill them again. show the celebrities on slides and their names and say 'now we wanna play a game. you know what? 20 questions does anybody know it? in Farsi what do we do?' slowly say 'I choose a person, but I do not tell anyone. you ask me questions. what question?' pointing to "Is he...? Yes he is/ No he's not" and say 'Ok?' model the activity. 'ready? Ok I chose.' after finishing I put them in pairs and have them to do the activity again.
