Description

First students will have a practice so teacher identify vocabularies that she should teach them. In this lesson, students will be taught vocabulary about character through teacher's teaching and a text.They will then practice gist and detailed reading about people with different way of smile and different characters followed by listening part for checking answers. They will have a controlled practice to practice the TL in the shape of listening and then a semi-controlled practice which is a personal test. Finally a freer practice allows them to discuss their results together.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and introdunction of lexical set in the context of describing character

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about charactristices of people

Procedure

Practice (4-5 minutes) • To know what words they know and what words they don't and react to test result

Teacher will show students a handout and asks them to match the words with the definition. Teacher will set the time and ICQ the students. Teacher will them to stand up, move around and find a person who knows the answer. Feedback: Teacher will elicit answers and write on the WB.

Pre-Teaching Vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • To make the text more understandable and reach the main aim

Teacher will teach new vocabularies that most of the students don't know their meaning through MPF order.

Warmer (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context through previous lesson

Teacher will say that in the last lesson, they had learned some words about appearance and in this paper, they see words about people's characteristic.

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To engage students with the topic

Teacher will put pictures from the text on the board and tries to engage students with the text through picture and set the context . Teacher will ask students to talk about people in the picture and tell which smile do they like? and Why?

Gist Reading (2-3 minutes) • To skim the text for finding the answer of the gist question

Teacher will put a gist question on the board and asks students to skim through the text in a very short time and just do not worry about any new word. Teacher will give handouts. Feedback: Checking in pairs and eliciting the answers

Detailed Reading (7-8 minutes) • To understand the text in detial

Teacher will ask the students to open the paper and match one of the headlines to each paragraph. Teacher will set the time, check ICQ and then students will check in pairs. Teacher will play a track of listening.and they will check their answers together. Feedback: whole-class feedback

Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To practice the TL throug listening

Teacher will show a paper with 6 adjectives to students and say that they are going to hear 6 different people talking and they will write numbers for adjective in order that they hear ICQ. Teacher will give handouts and students will listen. Feedback: Check in pairs, elicit correct responses and put them on the board

Semi-Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher will say to students that they are going to have a personal test. Teacher will show 5 names on a paper and some adjectives on another paper and ask students to choose one of them for each name to describe it.Then teacher will give them the result. Feedback: Elicit a few responses

Freer Practice (2-3 minutes) • To personolize the result of the previous exercise and its accuracy with reasons

Teacher will ask students to stand up, move around and find a partner and talk about the result, what they have written and think its accurate about them Feedback: elicit a few responses as a WC FB
