Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will project 2 different photos on the screen, with some adverbs below. Ss will have to choose 3 adverbs from below and associate them with the photo. They will have to do the same with both pictures. Ss will have 2 to 3 minutes to discuss the about it with their classmates before starting the activity. I will show them the correct answers at the end.

Text work (7-12 minutes) • To provide context for target language through a text or situation

For this part of the lesson, I have prepared an audio activity, taken from the book “Cutting Edge Advanced” which is about seven short stories (emphasized on descriptive adjectives), therefore, Ss will have to listen to the audio carefully and then, they will have to match every story with one of the seven pictures I will display on the screen. I will give to Ss 2 minutes to check answers with their classmates before sharing the rigth answers.

Language Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will start this section's lesson giving to Ss a quick description of what an “emphasizing adjective” is, then, I have prepared an interactive activity to show some examples. Some of the most popular Emphasizing words are: • Very • Really • So • Extremally • Ridiculously • A bit I will show what the form is. Subject +Verb + Emphasizing Adjective + Adjective + Noun I will also take 3 words (adjectives) to practice pronunciation with Ss - Unconventional - Scruffy - Frumpy To finish this stage, I have organized an activity where Ss will have to choose a descriptive adjective and classify it, depending on if the adjective can make someone to look bad or to look good

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I have arranged 2 activities for this stage: 1. I will display 7 pictures on the screen and the Ss will have to tell me 2 adjectives for every single picture. 2. I will use the same 7 pictures, and I will give to Ss some adjectives that describe each picture, moreover, they will have to match the adjectives given to each picture. Ss will have 2 minutes to discuss answers with their classmates before checking right answers.

Free Practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

For this stage of the lesson, there is an activity called "identify the adjective" I will give 4 sentences to my Ss and they will have to tell me which words are adjectives. These are the sentences: Italian cuisine is renowned for its rich flavours Italian-renowned-rich Snowy crystals fell softly on the dead leaves Snowy-dead Every year I visit the family farm Every-family The old Stone cottage is now a pizza shop old Stone-pizza
