Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- show slide 1 onto the w/b - ask Ss questions about the pictures and elicit the hotel - Nominate a students and him / her the questions on slide 2 - show slide 2 onto the w/b and tell the Ss to ask and answer the questions with their partners - set time limit 3 minutes - nominee some Ss to have a w/c feed back

Clarification of Lexis (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- Tell Ss that we are going to look at some new words - show slide 3 onto the w/b - try to elicit the words from the Ss before you tell them the word - teach the meaning, form - Model and drill the word orally without showing it onto the w/b

Pre-Reading (5-6 minutes) • to introduce Ss to he text and make it accessible

- Show slide 19 onto the w/b and HO1 - Tell Ss we have some words and pictures - Elicit what are Ss going to do - give HO1 out to the Ss - set time limit 2 minutes - Tell Ss to check with their partner - get Feedback as w/c

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading task

- Tell Ss now we have some reading - Show HO2 and explain to the Ss that we have three texts and three pictures - Tell Ss to read the text quickly and match each text to the pictures - Set time limit 3 minutes - Tell Ss to check with their partners - get feedback as w/c

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, reading task

- Show slide 20 into the w/b with HO3 - ask Ss if they still remember the text - Tell Ss to choose one answer for each question sometimes there is more than one answer - set time limit 3 minutes - after Ss have finished tell them to read the text again and correct their answers - set time limit 3 minutes - Tell Ss to check with their partners - get feedback as w/c

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- Get Ss into groups of 4s - show pictures from the text on slide 21 onto the w/b - Tell Ss which hotel is your favorite and why - Tell Ss to agree with their group on their favorite hotel and why - Monitor and help where needed - Tell Ss to write their ideas on a paper - get feedback as a w/c
