In this lesson the students are going to learn present perfect+yet/already in the context of their recently finished or unfinished tasks that should be completed soon through PPP. After the lesson the students should be able to use this tense and form correct sentences. The class will end with students doing some exercises and having a conversation about their recent tasks that they are occupied with from their job,university and... .

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the present perfect+yet/already

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a the present perfect+yet/already in the context of tasks they have done or haven't done yet in order to achieve their goals.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will say some sentences about my week and the tasks I've done and the ones that are unfinished and I haven't done yet. I will also ask the class to tell us about their week.

Highlighting (1-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some examples on the board to get students' attention on the TL.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage the tense will be clarified by writing some examples on the board and ask some CCQ questions: -Did the actions in the sentences start in the past? yes, they did. -Are they always about a recent past or often about a recent past?often about a recent past. -Do these actions that started in the past have any effect or relationship with the present?yes, they do. As I'm asking these questions I will also show it on a timeline for a better understanding. Then I will write down the structure of this tense with the help of the examples and the students. While writing the structure I will get their attention on the form of the verbs used in this tense and give an explanation. After all that I will write some examples of yet and already on the board and I will ask some CCQ questions: -Is "yet" only used in questions and negative sentences? yes, it is. -Do we use "yet" to ask if something has happened in a question? yes, we do. -Do we use "yet" to say if something has happened or hasn't happened in a sentence? something that hasn't happened. -Is "yet" put in the end of the sentence? yes, it is. -Is "already" only used in affirmative sentences? yes, it is. -Is "already" used in questions? no, it isn't. -Do we use "already" to say something happened before now and something that happened earlier than expected? yes, we do. -Do we put "already" before the main verb or after? before.

Controlled Practice (1-3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage the students are going to answer some questions related to present perfect+yet/already individually and then we will check with the whole class.

Free Practice (3-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage the students will have a conversation about their long term goals and the things they have done or haven't done in the process of achieving them in groups of three and then share them with the class
