In this IELTS speaking lesson, students will learn how to effectively use sequencing words to provide clear and structured answers. Additionally, they will understand and practice sentence stress when using these sequencing words to enhance their spoken responses. The lesson will also cover strategies for dealing with follow-up questions, ensuring students are well-prepared

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

**Warmer/Lead-in to the IELTS Lesson:** Students will begin by opening their books, and we will start the lesson by brainstorming what we already know about travel and transport.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Firstly, students will look at the pptx and repeat . Then, Students will focus on planning extended answers, using appropriate sequencing words, practicing sentence stress, and handling follow-up questions effectively.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will look at the visual aids (pptx)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

For the controlled practice, students will work in pairs to answer the four questions I have prepared from the IELTS book. They will use all the information previously provided to respond to these questions to the best of their abilities.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

For the semi-controlled practice, students will switch pairs and ask and answer the four questions from the IELTS book again. If any confusion or mistakes arise, students are encouraged to ask the teacher for assistance or help each other to improve their responses.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Lastly, for free practice, we will randomly nominate students to come to the front of the class. Students will then prepare and ask follow-up questions.
