To introduce the lesson and make the context of the lesson interesting for SS, by playing a short video clip about Michael Caine. And introducing new vocabulary. - tell the SS that we are going to read about a famous person, and they will see a short video clip of him first. -instruct the SS to answer two questions about the person in the video (write the two questions on the WB): What is his name? What does he do for a living? -erase the two questions from the WB & play the video clip using OHP. -feedback by checking answers. -post the new vocabulary with its meaning on the board -ask the SS to do the matching on the board.
- divide the class into large groups -instruct the two groups that they will be given two different texts about Michael Caine, and that they have to do a quick reading to answer one question , given to them on a tag. -instruct the SS that it it's very important that each group doesn't hear the other group's answers. -feedback by checking answers with each group.
-instruct the SS that they will have another reading to answer 5 questions about the text. -ask the SS to unfold their HO1 and answer the questions. -students check their answers in pairs. -next, students check their answers within their own group. -pass the answer key to each group. -take the answer key away from the two groups. -instruct the SS to do a second unfolding to HO1 and read the questions. -ask the SS to stand up and mingle, in order to find a partner from the other group and get answers from. -feedback by checking answers.
-write the following question on the board: How did you meet your partner? -elicit what a partner means. -instruct the SS that they have to find a partner and talk about that same topic. -feedback by asking SS what was their partner's story.
