Main Aims

Provide practice for using for and since when listening to a conversation
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide opportunity for ss to use target language in question/answer format
Procedure (25-39 minutes)
Refer Ss to list of irregular verbs p. 143 and draw attention to past participle column. Elicit from ss differences in past tense form and past participle form; aux. verb must be used.
Ss will use the list on p. 143 to assist in changing the verb forms in exercise 2 to the proper form for present perfect form. T will model 1 or 2 as an example and assist ss who have difficulty, or with any words that are not in the verb list. WC review unless it's evident that most ss have the correct answers.
Remind ss that present perfect forms are used to show an event that happened some time in the past, and that is can continue into the present. Also that even though we're using participle form, the tense isn't in the past. draw ss attention to context of the sentences. Check our answers with tapescript (T 7.2) Ss will listen to another tape script and formulate Qs to answers that are given in text using target language. Listen and check
Practice: Discussing grammar exer. 1 Ss will select the correct verb form to complete the meaning of the sentence.
"Find someone who..." Ss will stand up and ask classmates if they've ever been to another country using the phrase, "Have you ever..." after, ss will report to the class that "Hatem has been to.../Hatem hasn't been to..."
