Procedure (34-43 minutes)
slide 1 shows these two questions to be answered and discussed in break-out rooms (2) with other students. They will be posted in the chat before I show an example. Pre-teach Vocabulary 2. Tell Ss they will now be reading individually for detailed understanding. Screen share google Form. Tell Ss the answers are not always fully stated in text, they may have to read &; between the lines&. Ask them to focus on finding the answers and ignore words they don;t know that are relevant. But you can use a dictionary to check one or two unknown words (point out the link to the Cambridge dictionary online link in Google form). W What do we find out about the writer's background? POST (Response to the text) Give me two reasons why you think reading is important. Why is reading challenging for you? Form break-out rooms so students can go over the answers together. This open question. Will follow the main reading plus adding personalization for students to express themselves and hopefully help them read more so they can keep learning more after class. After this, I will give my reasonings and keep explaining how this will become more important as they keep learning a new language.
