Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about Sydney

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Walk in and start a discussion about letters or cities (Sydney). Tell ss that they are going read a letter from Sydney.

Test #1 (2-4 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language (pronouns)

Arrange ss into pairs. Instruct for scanning. Ask ICQs. Start Exercise 1. Test Subject Pronouns. Give FB.

Teach (3-5 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Remind scanning technique. Remind Subject Pronouns (use the table). Arrange pairs. Change the partners. Instruct for Exercise 2. Give FB.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Arrange ss into pairs. Instruct for Exercise 3. Ask ICQs. Start Exercise 3. Test Object Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives. Give FB.

Teach 2 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Remind Objcect Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives (use the table).

Test #3 (3-5 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the previous test stage

Arrange pairs. Change the partners. Instruct for Exercise 4. Give FB.
