Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide product writing practice of a descriptive paragraph in the context of animals
Procedure (25-41 minutes)
The teacher shows pictures of two pets and asks the students some questions connected with the reading. The teacher also tries to teach them some of the blocking words in the reading.
The teacher asks the students to read the passages quickly and answer the skimming questions. Having finished answering the skimming questions, the teacher asks them to move their eyes through the lines to find the specific information and answer the scanning questions. The students are the asked to check their answers with their partners. This is followed by feedback.
At this stage, the teacher asks the students to read the reading in details and individually to answer the detailed questions on the handouts. This is followed by pair check and classroom feedback.
Having learnt how to write descriptive paragraph previous in the week, the teacher finally asks the students to imagine the situation in the text and describe themselves from a pet's view using the forms previously taught in the class. This step may go on through the next lesson.
