In this lesson, the SS learn adjective+preposition compounds and practice using them in a controlled and free practice

Procedure (33-47 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
The SS play a scatter game on the smart board.
Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation
The teacher makes some sentences with the adjectives and asks the SS what they each compound means. He shows the sentences on the smart board.
Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language
Eliciting the form from the SS.
Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
Writing the rule of how to use adj + prep compounds.
Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
The SS do the rewriting exercise on page 10 of SB.
Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
The SS try to form a dialogue in which they use the compounds they have just learned to describe their friends.
