Description

In this lesson, the SS will review vocabulary in the context of the lesson. They will practice listening for specific info, detail and note taking. They will also revise must, may, might, can't learnt in the previous lesson and practice semi controlled speaking and free speaking

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, ss will have practised listening for specific information, detail and note taking in the context of appearances.

Subsidiary Aims

  • The students will revise must, may might, can't semi controlled speaking and free speaking

Procedure

Lead in/pre teach vocabulary (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the lesson and pre teach some potentially blocking lexis from the listening exercise

T will present a story and elicit answers from the students on the following words: Stereotype Stage name eccentricity individuality a spy to judge someone T to revise the words with the students and check on pronunciation and form.

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening exercise and revise the modal verbs learnt in the previous lesson.

Teacher will create three groups. The SS will look at the picture on the IWB and answer the questions T to write the words - must, may , might, can't be on the board and SS give their answers . quick feedback from groups. Explain may if required. SS will answer the questions.

While listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with a less challenging gist and specific information listening task

T distributes questions and instructs candidates preparing them for the next activity. T to play the audio, students listen to the audio and answer questions. T to monitor. SS discuss in pairs. Feedback via nomination.

While Listening (15-17 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging, detailed listening exercise

T distributes questions and gives instructions to SS for the next listening activity. T to play audio. SS listen to it and answer the questions. SS discuss in pairs Feedback via nomination.

Post listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to reflect on what they have heard and promote fluency

T to ask the following questions: How importance is appearance in your country? Do people Judge by appearances? Do people do surgeries to improve appearances? Are there competitions? discuss within groups and feedback from each group
