Procedure (39-48 minutes)
Locate postcard on top of sheet. explain the concept of the postcard. gather opinions on the context of the postcard.
Pre teach the following words using PP: to be rude, to have good manners, to be amazed, disgusting ,
focus attention on the teapots- what do they come from? Ideas? reading for gist. read culture shock , complete ex b and illicit quick feedback.
Prepare students for T/F task. do first one as an example. allow students to check in pairs or groups then write correct answers on board. ask students to correct the F sentences. monitor and help where necessary. ask ss was the text difficult? easy? why?
have ss complete the phrases with the missing verbs. do as quick as possible
Ask ss if they think people in their countries are more similar to Alexander or Miranda. Why? Why not? Then as GW, have ss find 3 similarities and 3 differences in the text to their own cultures/countries, and tell each other.
