Main Aims

To provide clarification of countries and nationalities in the context of personal information

Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a speaking about oneself in the context of personal information

Procedure (31-42 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show ss a picture of people from different countries asking ss about their nationality with giving them an example about myself asking ss if they ever had a friend from another country, or if they will have one where would they be from?

Test #1 (5-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

pictures of some flags and some countries' names to match

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

will provide pictures for the flags of the rest of countries in the lesson and start explaining the country name and nationality using MPF

Test #2 (5-6 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

will provide ss with exercises from the book

Free practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

ss will stand up and mingle and ask each others about their nationalities and some famous people's nationalities
