Procedure (34-59 minutes)
Greet students and ask them "how are you?" Students stand up and sing the good morning song with actions. Ask random students as pairs to say have a basic conversation "good morning, how are you?" "I am fine thanks and you?
Write the word Actions on the black board and circle it. Stand in front of the class and tell then to watch me ; I will do different actions such as run, jump, walk etcetera and ask students to tell me what I'm doing. When they get it right I will right the word on the black board. Open the PPT Students look at pictures on the screen. Teacher: what is this? Students: run, walk etch After each word we will elicit and repeat about four times as well as go through the PPT more than once.
Split the class into groups and have every group stand and do an action and say the word. Example group 1 jump five times and say jump on every jump (teacher shows class a few examples by doing the action and saying the word so that the students can understand instruction.) After trying it a few times and students understand instruction give them points for doing it correctly.
Have students watch and listen to a song. Play it twice whilst doing actions and singing the song. After the second time put the video off and teach the students the actions (example: open hands, shut hands.) then slowly sing the song and do the actions whilst singing. Have students do the actions and encourage them to try and sing alone with you.
