float vs sink
PreK level

Description

In this lesson, students will learn 2 new science concepts: things that float and things that sink. First, we'll find a huge transparent tank of water. A yellow duck is floating there. Kids will try to guess, why this exactly duck is not sinking and what gives them additional buoyancy. Then there are stones on the bottom. Why aren't they floatong? After the marvellous guessing game, we'll watch a science cartoon. Then we'll check other object in the classroom, make a conclusion, WHY exactly this happens. Then we'll sit at the table, have a worksheet, and tick all the things that sink.

Productive Task(s) (5-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Experiments time! Let's check, whether we guessed right or wrong! Take any thing and come here Let's splash splosh your treasures into the tank one bt one. Take turns! Check the result. Discuss, speak, listen to kids, repeat out loud their right ideas Find the answer Make a simple final conclusion

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Take a worksheet, name the objects, ask kiddos, what sinks and what float show how to put ticks next to floating things and crosses - next to sinking give out while asking everyone do altogether, repeat item by item praise kiddos everywhere a every time
