Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, practice and review of things in the context of describing places

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information, detailed, deduction and inference listening practice using a text about seasons in the context of weather

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Ask students about different seasons and their characteristics based on the homework yesterday. -Show the video and ask them to discus what was the idea in it. -complete exercise 4 and 5 -teach new vocabulary Show ppt and revise words man made and natural( a flower and an artificial flower) -Match voc at page 36 Exc 1 Take feed back by showing ppt

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask the students to complete exercise 2 take feed back by asking no 8 ,10 and 7 - Predicting visuals -Ask sts to check the visuals and answer the questions in groups. Take feed back and give opinions. After discussion.and describing the pictures .Listen to excercise 5 on page 37 and mark 1-3 in the boxes

While-/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T asks the students what is unusual abut these pics. Take feed back in groups. Then write on the board Dubai is hot in July. Salalah has a lot of banana trees. ask the students to tell you what the sentences are made up of . Then ask them to listen and find out the adjectives. T gives two sentences . Dubai is a city Dubai is a wonderful and modern city. Whats the difference? Sts discus and answer Teacher gives feed back if required.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T plays and students underline nouns,verbs and adjectives in ex 4. T asks the students to fill in the blanks without listening and try to put words T plays and students fill in the details .Students check and teacher takes feed back. Sts sit in pairs and one describes and other listens and finds out which picture is being described. T asks students to read ans answer question 1 page 39.then they listen and check. Students complete the names of months and listens for syllables.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students read the question in Listening 2 and answer the questions. Match pictures. T asks the the students to listen and check who is speaking Danila or Altan? Teacher asks tghe students to check the vocabulary .They read and listen and take feed back Discussion Sit n pairs and describe the pictures.
