Description

In this lesson students will revise verb be and complete an exercise after that they will do listening 2 and listen about famous people and their nationalities .Then students will work in groups to deduce from the listening 2 about different topics they listened.They will use same headings to make a mind map for one of the famous person from their country.After that sts will discuss nationalities and countries in groups .T will give feed back in groups .Later on they will be introduced about how to start a talk.

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about famous people in the context of people
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a presentation in the context of famous people

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Recap H w - Show answers on the white board -Discuss the one which all of them haven't done correctly. Start Verb be Write three sentences I am a student She is very intelligent They are walking home now. ask the students what is the verb here? Let the students elicit and make a rule. Then make a column with positive ,negative,and a question

Pre Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Discuss the pictures . Elicit the word famous and then ask them to brainstorm from the words given in ex 2 who they are and which country they belong ?Take notes on the board. -play listening and check exercise 2

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ask the students to focus on the question .Who is Marie and Clare? Let the students brainstorm and then take feed back. Play listening and check answers

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ask the students to read the questions and discuss in groups. Ask the students to underline the key words to find information. Play listening and let the students write the answers. Ask the students to compare answers. Display answers. tell sts their presentation will be same like this on Sunday. Ask students to discuss what information they listened to like Country or place/ nationality/age/ His family /achievements/ job/ likes to do etc Ask the students to make a mind map Help sts by giving an example on the board

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

t tells the students to go to page 26 and helps them by doing 1 and 2nd question about nationalities then elicit orally and asks them to finish exc 2 in groups . give feed back by displaying answers. Ask the students that Introducing a talk is very important .How to introduce.Play and ask the students to listen carefully. Check the wordings and write on the board .Add some more if necessary. Then ask the students to read the questions on 27 and play the audio to let them complete .Take feed back. How to describe job page 28 . Briefly describe the page and the jobs Do exercise 6 very important .Ask the students to fill the gaps on their own on page 29 in the speaking task. Ask them to check and read out in chorus. H.w page 30 Exc Practice Show them how to do and then ask the students to prepare at home,
