Procedure (20-30 minutes)
In this stage i will say something about an unexpected thing that happened to me recently and in the process i will use the past perfect tense so that they would be a bit familiar with it. i will also ask them to tell the class if they have experienced something similar to this that they would like to share.
In this stage i will write some of the examples on the board to get the students' attention on the TL.
In this stage i will clarify this tense by giving an example of two completed actions in one sentence and asking them to tell me which one they think happened first and then show it on a timeline. I will also ask some CCQ questions: -Are the sentences about past, present or future? past -Is the action in the sentence completed or is it still continuing? it is completed. -Is the form of past perfect the same for all pronouns? yes In this stage i will also clarify the whole structure of the past perfect tense and the regular and irregular verbs and the pp form and pronunciation. I will also clarify that when ‘d means would and when it means had.
The students will do some exercises prepared for them from task b on page 149 in 2 minutes and then we will check the answers together for about 3 minutes.
I will ask my students to talk about their most shocking and unexpected things that have happened to them and that they have witnessed in groups of 3 and then each of them will tell the whole about it and they will all comment on each other's stories.
