To teach students the difference between Past Simple and Present Perfect
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
First, we look at pictures of different countries and discuss where students have been. They can say it using past simple or present perfect, depends on what they already know, we don't interrupt, just let them speak
The teacher talks about their own experience, shows photos from his travel and talks about it using present perfect
The teacher asks them if they noticed what grammar they used. Students try to find the answer based on what they just heard from the teacher
The teacher clarifies when to use present perfect, what forms of "have" to use and, if needed, remember what irregular verbs they have already studied
The students do the excersise when they need to choose between Past Simple and Present Perfect
The students do the excersise when they need to open the brackets and put the verb into the right form, share their answers to the group
The students play "never have i ever...". Each student think of something they have never done. Before the task the teacher explains how to make negative sentences in PP using NEVER and explains the game. Students put fingers down, the first to put 10 fingers down has to sing a chorus of any song
