Copy of Predicative Adjectives Lesson
Upper-Intermediate level
Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide clarification and practice of Predicative Adjectives in the context of Family.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a dialogue.
Procedure (36-48 minutes)
I will show some pictures describing the predicative adjectives to be taught on PowerPoint. And I will ask the ss what or how those people feel in the shown pictures.
While I monitor them, the ss will match the predicative adjectives with their definitions and check in pairs. And the ss will report back to the teacher and whole class. Finally, I'll highlight the given predicative adjectives with a colourful board marker on the board.
The ss will read the sentences in exercise 2 ( page 8, unit 1) in pairs and discuss which sentence sounds better. And the ss will report back to the whole class.
The ss will be divided into groups and write on a paper indivudually as many attributive and predicative adjectives describing a person in their family as they can. And each group member will tell about the person he/she described to his/her group members for 1 minute. I will be monitoring them.
I will disperse an exercise worksheet focusing on the predicative adjectives and get the ss to work in pairs. And then they will check their answers and discuss in pairs and report back to the whole class.
I will ask the ss 5-6 questions about their family members by using the given predicative adjectives. For example, "What time is your sister asleep at night?" or "If you don't get married, do you feel alone?".
