Tell Ss about your nephew and that he asks really weird questions for example few days ago he asked me what an octopus was. I told him it was an animal and he asked again. What kind of animal? and I said it is a fish. Then again he asked "what kind of fish is it?" it is a fish which has 8 hands. Then ask students if they have any kids or relatives with kids and if they got any question like that. Write your model sentence on the board.
Give SS HO and ask them to fill in the gaps to define the picture but tell them and take their attention to the model sentence on the board and make sure you have included they ll have to choose one of the relative adverbs written on their HO. Give them 3 min. When they finish working on the examples ask them compare their answers. Give them the answer key.
Choose the relative clause subjects and show them a picture or write the word on the board connected with the topic. For example; if they dont know how to use "where" as relative clause, write on the board , "hospital". Ask these questions; is this a place? What do we do there? What happens there? and write the sentence on the board. It is a place where doctors look after the patience." Check understanding with pictures (of place for the example )and ask the same questions to the students and try to elicit the true sentence. If the answers are wrong teach again.
Show students the gap-fill activity. Ask them to fill in it in five minutes. Ask them to compare it with their partners. Give the asnwer key and take fb. Ask them to check the pictures on the same page. This time they will try to remember the phrases and by looking at the picture they will try to make the correct sentences to explain the picture.
Divide the class into two.Give each group a set of cards on which there are pictures and words. Tell them that they are going to play taboo and they have a limited time. Each person has 30 seconds to tell the word on the picture. Write their points on the board. Monitor the students and keep them for error correction stage.
