Description

In this lesson , The teacher focuses on improving the students' reading skill .The lesson starts with watching a short video about the general idea of the topic (meat shaped plant) This is followed by specific questions about the topic.Then, they will read for gist to find a suitable heading for the text after that , The teacher teaches them some challengig words . then, they will read for details to write the headings of the paragraphs in the correct places. After that , they will read and answer 2 questions related to the topic . And the free practice via a final role play speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about the impossible burger in the context of food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of the green and vegetarian food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will greet the students and ask them about their day . T will ask the SS : Have you ever eaten fake fried chicken? The students will watch a video which is about the general idea ( Meat shaped plant) .

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will show the SS 2 pictures which are more specific to the topic . T will ask the students to answer the 2 questions together which are (. What can you see in these pictures? . What do you think of people who do this?) . There are some challenging vocabulary in the text which the T is going to explain them before they read for details . Dairy products. Raw beef. Ingredients.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

SS will look at the picture which is in the text . SS will read for gist to know the general idea of the topic and why the burger is called the impossible one . T will tell them to check in pairs. SS will share their answers in the main room.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T will ask the SS to read again and put the headings in the correct places alone. T will ask the SS to share their answers in pairs. SS will share their answers together in the main room. T will show them the right answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will ask the students to pair. Each 2 will pretend that they are restaurant owners and they will design everything ( the place , the prices , the kind of food they will provide , the advertising ) SS will share their plans in the main room. SS will vote for the best restaurant and the team who has more votes is the winner
