Future Forms revision. Planning a party

Description

In this lesson students will revise future forms (Pr. Cont., Going to, Will) and plan their school party. The lesson starts with discussing their plans for the New Year's holidays and probability of having a party. Then there is Future Forms revision + party vocabulary. Finally, they are to do a group project: plan their Christmas party (or their upcoming Christmas lesson - who knows??).

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a group project presenting in the context of planning a party using the future forms and the party vocabulary

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of the future forms in the context of the present continuous, to be going to structure, the future simple

Procedure

Warm Up (5-7 minutes) • Настроить SS на работу, немного повеселиться

Ask: what are your plans for winter holidays? Are you going to have a party with your friends? This or that game. Party themed. Учитель называет два варианта вечериночных активностей. Студенты должны быстро подумать и выбрать один из них. Учитель снова называет активности по очереди, студент поднимают руку на той, которую выбрали. Если не знают слова, можно помочь/распечатать на половинках и раздать на группы по 3 человека. Активности: 1. Chips or candies 2. Loud music or no music 3. Board games or "truth or dare" (правда или действие) 4. Go to sleep at 10 PM or stay up all night 5. Chatting with friends or dancing to music together 6. Delivered pizza or homemade dishes 7. Dressing up for a party or partying in pyjamas/basic clothes 8. Sleepover or going home to sleep in your own bed 9. Party in a small group of friends or party with new people (the more the merrier) 10. Planning your own party or visiting someone else's party Будет хорошо, если кто-нибудь поднимет руку на "planning your own party". Ask: what's the best activity to do at the party? What's the best food to eat at the party? To have a great party, you need to plan everything well! А как на английском говорить о своих планах или намерениях?

Revision (20 minutes) • Revise the future forms, do the grammar task

The Present continuous, to be going to, the Future Simple rules & structures revision on the board. Grammar task on worksheets. if time: play a game with cards (green card: Pr. Project: Party maker (15 minutes) • Ss work in groups. Ss plan their own parties using new vocabulary and the future forms.

Divide Ss into two groups. Give out "School Party" worksheet. They have 15 minutes to plan their parties, using different future forms, the party vocabulary and party-related pictures.

Project: step 2 - presenting (10-15 minutes) • Ss present their party ideas to each other.

After the projects are done, they each have 5-7 minutes to present their party plans to each other. The other group decides if they want to go to the party and gives their opinions.

Speaking: the perfect Christmas Party (lesson) (15-20 minutes) • Speaking practise

Teacher asks for advice on a certain Christmas party... (a christmas lesson???) After presenting the projects, students need to help their teacher to plan a Christmas party. They give ideas, the teacher writes everything on the board. Then the teacher invites their students to the said party! Yaaay!
