Food/ drinks vocabulary lesson
A1-A2 level

İn this lesson students will learn target vocabulary related to the topics food and drinks and identify new vocabulary in the reading passage ''Why I eat same food every day..The lesson starts with a vocabulary pre-teaching quessing game. Then students will learn new vocabulary elements by practising them in different interactive vocabulary activities like matching words to the pictures / dragging the elements. Finally students will identify new vocabualry words through reading a paragraph.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of food and drink lexis

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about eating same food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students are explained the topic and the aims of the lesson.

Exposure (5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Then students are supposed to do the quiz in mentimeter. There they will share their responses to the questions about food.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

First of all I have split the vocabulary bank onto 2 parts .After clarifying the definition and the pronunciation of the new words related to the breakfast students will be working on the vocabulary bank in liveworksheets. Students will have the same vocabulary page as an interactive ex. where they are expected to drag and drop the new words to the right picture.

Controlled Practice (5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are going to reply on the questions in the ex. 1C. What do you have for breakfast / what do you like for breakfast / what don't you like for breakfast.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • to clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target vocabulary

Students will deal with the rest of the vocabulary. This time they will have to cathegorize and group the words into the boxes. After this exercise students will have a short practice again.

Free practice (5-7 minutes) • to reinforce the usage of new vocabulary

After completing the second part of vocabulary bank students are going to ask and asnswer questions on their own by benefiting from the helping slides.

Semi-Controlled Practice in reading (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further

Students are going to read the text in the ex. 2c..

Checking comprehension (5-7 minutes) • To help students recall and use new words or phrases encountered in the reading passage.

Students are expected to reply on the questions related to the text

Closure (2 minutes) • to resume the lesson

To gauge how well students have grasped the topic and identify areas that may need further attention.
