Description

In this stage, students are going to learn about passive voice. they are going to know what passive is, why and when we use it and how to change an active sentence into passive voice.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Passive voice in the context of trying to make some passive sentence by looking at some pictures

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of talking more professionally by using passive voice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, students will be shown pictures of some inventions. they have to guess which of those inventions were invented by women.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage, I will tell my students that they do not know who invented those inventions. then i will ask them how they will say such sentence. a sentence that they do not know who is the subject.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write some of my students answers that were made in a correct form on the board to draw their attention to TL

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage, i will clarify the meaning and the form of the passive sentences by asking these questions from my students: 1)Do we have sub in this sentence? no 2)What is the role of this word at the beginning of the sentence? object 3)What is the form of the verb here? tobe+p.p 4)If I add by at the end of the sentence, will the whole meaning change? no we just add by to say who did the job. 5)In these sentences, in which part we focus? object

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will be asked to do the exercise A on page 145 in the grammar bank in 4 minutes. they will have 2 minutes to check their answers i pairs. then we will check them with whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about one of their expeditions that they went with their school using both active and passive voice.
