Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Passive voise in the context of changing the active sentences of a situation to passive

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of talking more professionally by using passive voice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, students will be shown 2 sentence that are describing a situation. they will be asked to identify subject, verb and the object of the sentences

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

First i will ask my students, if they do not know who did that thing in that situation and they do not know who is the sub, how they will describe the situation. then i will ask them to delete the sub and put the object at the beginning of the sentence and write the verbs in the past participle form.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

in this stage, I will write some of the passive sentences that my students have made in the correct form on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning and the form of the passive sentences by asking these ccq questions from my students; What is the time of these sentences? Do we have sub here? what is the role of this word at the beginning of the sentence? What is the form of the verb in this sentence? so the form of the verbs in passive sentences is tobe+pp, if i add (by) at the end of the sentence does the primary meaning change? no, so we can add by to just say who did the job.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are going to do exercise A on page 145 in the grammar bank in 4 minutes. they will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check them with whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about one of their expeditions that they went with their school using active and passive voice.
